To Spray Tan or Not to Spray Tan?

As your wedding day approaches, one of the questions that often arises is whether or not to get a spray tan. While a beautiful, sun-kissed glow can enhance your look, I personally believe that tanning before your wedding can be tricky unless you're confident about a few key factors.

The Downsides of Tanning

  1. Blotchiness and Unevenness: One of the biggest concerns with tanning is that it often looks blotchy and uneven after just a couple of days. The face can end up looking significantly lighter than the body, which creates an unbalanced appearance.

  2. Orange Undertones: Sometimes, the tan can take on an orange hue, which is not ideal for wedding photos. You want your skin to look radiant and natural, not like you just stepped out of a tanning booth.

  3. Discoloration of Hands and Feet: Areas like your hands and feet can end up looking darker than the rest of your body. Plus, areas like underarms can wear off more quickly due to rubbing, heat, sweat, and deodorant. This inconsistency can complicate the makeup application process, making it hard for us makeup artists to color match you perfectly.

The Verdict: Tan or Not?

So, if you’re wondering whether you should tan before your wedding, I suggest leaving that decision up to yourself and the professional you choose. Make sure to select someone who can provide a long-lasting, uniform, and natural-looking spray tan.

Sunbathing? Think Again!

If you’re considering sunbathing instead, I highly advise against it. Tan lines can be incredibly difficult to cover, and let's face it: red is not a foundation color. Plus, sun exposure can damage your skin in the long run. Remember, SPF is your best friend when it comes to anti-aging!

A Balanced Perspective

This perspective is based on my own experiences and observations in the industry. That said, I have seen some stunning spray tans that have performed beautifully and seamlessly. If you do choose to go for a spray tan, ensure you work with a trusted professional who understands your needs and can deliver a flawless result.

Ultimately, whether you opt for a spray tan or not, the key is to feel comfortable and confident in your skin on your big day. Enjoy the process and embrace your unique beauty!
